It is best to purchase online from Asfinag. Anyone buying the digital vignette directly from the Asfinag website must enter their license plate number, provide an email address, and select a payment method. It is vital to ensure that there are no errors in the license plate number. If you are stopped for a check, no valid vignette can be assigned, and you will be charged a replacement toll of 120 euros. Koisser advises: “By checking the validity on the ASFINAG website, you can obtain confirmation that a vignette is available for your license plate and also for what period of time.”
Old sticker valid until the end of January
The 2026 annual vignette costs €106.80 and must be active by February 1, 2026, at the latest. The vignette for 2025 remains valid until January 31, 2026. Next year will be the last time that adhesive vignettes will be available. They are red and must be affixed to the windshield in a clearly visible position at the top left or in the area of the rearview mirror. The adhesive vignette has the advantage that there is no problem if the license plate changes, for example, due to a change of residence. Anyone who does not buy the vignette now and is late next year should buy it immediately at an Öamtc base or at an Arbö test center. There, vehicle owners will receive a digital vignette that is valid immediately.
